About the Course
ABC Awards Level 1 in Fashion and Textiles
This course offers you a challenging opportunity to develop relevant
skills and knowledge required to springboard you into the fashion
industry. It is an exciting and creative course that will enable you to
explore a range of relevant topics.
You will develop a range of sewing techniques including a variety of
seams e.g. Plain, French, Flat-felled seams. You will also apply your
creative design ideas to practical and creative fashion design, such as
pattern cutting.
Assessment is predominantly through coursework; during the course
you will receive feedback throughout each unit.
Formal education is not required to enter this field, the course teaches
relevant skills which will give the practical knowledge needed to work in
a highly competitive industry. You should have an eye for detail, be
creative and an ability to have a go-getter attitude.

I am an experienced member of theYouth Education Projects teaching team.
My key responsibilities are for the overall development of the Fashion and Design Curriculum. This includes lesson planning, assessments, internal moderation, quality assurance, building positive progression routes and facilitating opportunities for young people to extend their skills and abilities within the wider community.
I proactively develop my skills, knowledge and competence and regularly undertake training and other activities to ensure that my practice and subject knowledge is current and in line with industry standards.
